Greetings Fellow Prospectors! New White Quartz: Chinook has agreed to allow access for Maintenance Work only. The deadline is May 30th. Our Outing date is this Saturday, the 18th. This is a Work in Progress. It buys us time to negotiate the ability to mine the claim year-round or at least September through May. We’ll meet at the McDonald’s off Riddle Exit 103 on Saturday, May 13th @ 9:00 a.m. DCPA Outings are open to everyone! Be sure and bring some rakes and shovels. We’re mainly going to be removing brush and debris from the paths, etc. A Chainsaw and Weedeater could be helpful. We usually work for a couple of hours then either mine or metal detect afterward. It’d be a good idea to bring lunch and some snacks. Don’t forget to include enough water for the day! Motorized Equipment, Sluicing, Panning, and Metal Detecting are allowed. Additional Outing: On Sunday, the 19th at 1:00 pm., we have a second Outing to Jerry’s Claim to look at areas that need Claiming. Take exit 88 and turn left over the freeway. There’s a turnout on the left-hand side of the road about ½ a mile down. That’s the Rendezvous spot. Summer Months: We need to do the maintenance work on the rest of our claims. June 15th will be to DCPA One, and Bottoms Up on Cow Creek. July 13th will be at Dark Canyon on Olalla Creek. John Parker wants to host an outing at his place on Sunday, July 7th. I’m inviting everyone to my Claim on Sharps Creek, on August 17th. Our outing for September will be our Annual Picnic on the 14th. We don’t have anything planned for October or November. We could either go to a Public Area or maybe have a Rock Hounding event. Metal Detecting: We’ll have some extra Outings this Summer To various parks. The best ones will be after a weekend event like the Blackberry Festival in Sutherlin and Pioneer Days in Canyonville. Until next time, may the bottom of your pans always be filled with gold!
